ShopRite and Kellogg Company Join Forces to Fight Hunger

ShopRite and Kellogg’s donate $100,000 to Feeding America Food Banks Across the Northeast

Keasbey, NJ (December 21, 2023) – ShopRite teamed up recently with the Kellogg Company (now WK Kellogg Co and Kellanova) to support local food banks and help families facing food insecurity in communities where ShopRite stores operate. ShopRite and Kellogg’s donated a total of $100,000 to 10 Feeding America network food banks in the northeast. The donations, which were made at events at ShopRite stores through the summer and fall, will allow  food banks to purchase nearly one million additional meals for people in need.

ShopRite and Kellogg’s presented $10,000 checks to food bank representatives at stores in New Jersey, including the ShopRite of Maple & Hemlock, ShopRite of West Deptford, ShopRite of Fair Lawn and ShopRite of Sparta; in New York, at the ShopRite of Hylan Plaza, ShopRite of Pelham and ShopRite of North Poughkeepsie; in Pennsylvania, at the ShopRite of Bethlehem and ShopRite of Morrell Plaza; and the ShopRite of Forest Hill in Maryland.

“These donations go a long way by making it possible for food banks to supply another one million meals to people and families in need. We are proud to work with the Kellogg Company to get important resources to food banks and the hunger-fighting heroes who are on the frontlines helping fight food insecurity and end hunger,” said Karen Meleta, Wakefern Food Corp. and ShopRite Chief Communications Officer.

“There is nothing more important to us than working together to end hunger. Since 2015, Kellogg’s has fed more than 252 million people facing hunger, including more than five million children through community-based feeding programs,” said Greg Carbone, vice president of Sales, Kellogg Company. “These donations are part of our Kellogg’s Better Days® Promise to make communities better. We’re proud to partner with ShopRite to help families in America, as Kellogg shares ShopRite’s commitment to feed and fulfill those in need and positively impact our communities.”

According to Feeding America, more than 44 million people in the United States – including 13 million children – are food insecure.

In addition to donating $100,000 to local Feeding America food banks, ShopRite also sold special-edition Rice Krispies cereal boxes with the opportunity for customers to win free cereal for a year. Favorite Kellogg’s mascots Tony the Tiger and Snap, Crackle and Pop also visited stores to help present the checks to local food banks.
