Price Rite Marketplace Partners with Feed the Children and the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island to Donate Food and Essentials to Woonsocket Families
Woonsocket, RI (June 29, 2022) – Price Rite Marketplace teamed up with anti-hunger organization Feed the Children, the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island and event partner Conagra Brands to distribute food and essentials to 400 local families on Wednesday, June 28. The community event kicked off the supermarket retailer’s 2023 Feeding Minds & Bodies Campaign in partnership with Feed the Children, which helps support food-insecure families in the communities where Price Rite Marketplace stores operate. In addition to providing essentials to families in need, the event also celebrated the grand opening of the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island’s Woonsocket Clubhouse with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 10 a.m.
Each family, pre-identified by the Boys and Girls Club of Northern Rhode Island, received boxes of food, personal care items, children’s books, backpacks filled with school supplies, bottled water, Price Rite Marketplace gift cards and other assorted items provided by Feed the Children and Price Rite Marketplace.
Price Rite Marketplace and Feed the Children representatives were joined by Rhode Island state executives such as Governor Dan McKee, Lieutenant Governor Sabina Matos and State Senator Jack Reed. Lisa Baldelli-Hunt, mayor, City of Woonsocket; Jim Clark, president and CEO, Boys and Girls Clubs of America; Gary Rebello, president and CEO, Boys and Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island; and Ryan Antrop, board chair, Boys & Girls Clubs of Northern Rhode Island were also in attendance.

Fighting hunger is at the heart of Price Rite Marketplace’s charitable giving and paired with Feed the Children’s vision to create a world where no child goes to bed hungry, the two created an initiative called Feeding Minds & Bodies, which is designed to help bring attention to and fight the issue of childhood hunger. This year, Price Rite Marketplace and Feed the Children are partnering with the Boys and Girls Club of America to help families by providing food, personal care items, school supplies and gift cards throughout the year. With one in six U.S. children living in a food insecure household, hunger remains a serious issue in many communities, especially during summer months and the back-to-school season.
