ShopRite Partners In Caring Launches Annual Cheerios Contest to Fight Hunger

Keasbey, NJ (September 2, 2025) – ShopRite Partners In Caring (SRPIC) is kicking off its annual Cheerios Contest, a cherished fundraiser that rallies ShopRite store associates to raise vital funds for local food banks. In partnership with Cheerios maker General Mills, the contest continues a tradition of community support and hunger relief that began in 1999.
Now through October 4, associates from ShopRite stores across the region will compete to raise funds for organizations offering food assistance within their local communities. The stores that raise the most money will earn the unique honor of having their associates’ photos featured on a special Cheerios cereal box in March. The recognition spotlights their dedication to ShopRite’s collective fight against food insecurity.
Over the past 25 years, ShopRite Partners In Caring has become ShopRite’s signature hunger-fighting initiative, raising nearly $65 million to support more than 2,500 local charities.
“We are committed to fighting food insecurity because our stores are family-owned by grocers who are in the communities their stores operate. We are here and we care here. We are especially proud of the retail teams for their fundraising efforts and their commitment to the Cheerios contest each year,” said Alexandra Emery, Manager of Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility for ShopRite. “We want our customers to know we are here, and this contest is a meaningful way to bring people together and make a real difference in the lives of those facing food insecurity.”
With food insecurity impacting many families, this year’s Cheerios Contest aims to inspire even greater participation and generosity. ShopRite encourages everyone to join in the fun and support the tradition to help feed those in need while helping their local store be the top contest fundraiser. Shoppers can keep an eye out for special store fundraisers and donations to ShopRite Partners In Caring can be made at checkout during the fundraising period, which also overlaps with Hunger Action Month in September.
