ShopRite of Hadley Commons Cuts Ribbon on New Store

South Plainfield, NJ (May 9, 2024) – Hundreds of customers lined up outside the new ShopRite of Hadley Commons on May 8 for the 7 a.m. ribbon cutting and grand opening of the supermarket at 6781 Hadley Road in South Plainfield. Members of the Saker family, which owns and operates the state-of-the-art store, greeted customers and the first 200 people on line received special grocery gift bags filled with product samples and coupons. The day’s celebration also included in-store samplings and outdoor food trucks and a grill station.

South Plainfield Mayor Matthew Anesh, Council President Rob Bengivenga, Councilman Derryck White, Councilman Joe Wolak and Councilwoman Christine Faustini joined the Saker family for the ribbon cutting and grand opening. The Sakers also presented representatives from the Community FoodBank of New Jersey with a $10,000 donation.

Tru Fru Food, Deep Foods and Mrs. T’s Pierogies visited the store to offer free samples to shoppers. Deep Foods and Mrs. T’s Pierogies grilled treats on site and offered customers a chance to enter a raffle for a new Weber Grill. The new ShopRite offers a wide selection of groceries including locally sourced foods and fresh produce, as well as popular national brands and ShopRite’s award-winning Bowl & Basket, Wholesome Pantry and Paperbird private label lines. The store will also feature an expanded line of international foods and dishes including Southeast Asian specialties, and Kosher and Halal products. In addition, the store will offer a Saker ShopRites World Class bakery with special occasion cakes and freshly made bread, an extensive meat department with trained butchers, a seafood department with daily, fresh catch deliveries, a floral shop, a full-service deli and prepared foods department featuring Saker ShopRites’ own World Class Kitchens and specialty Dearborn Farms brands, a pharmacy and more. ShopRite’s online shopping service, Order.Pickup.Deliver., will also be available at the new location.

ShopRite of Hadley Commons is owned by Saker ShopRites, a family-owned company made up of third and fourth generation grocers with stores in Middlesex, Monmouth, Ocean, Somerset and Mercer counties.

The supermarket hired an additional 200 full- and part-time employees ahead of the store’s opening. The new store replaced the ShopRite of Piscataway at 1306 Centennial Ave.
