ShopRite Raises Funds to Fight Hunger During Hunger Action Month
Keasbey, NJ (Sept. 28, 2023) – In recognition of National Hunger Action Month this September, ShopRite Partners In Caring once again raised awareness around the issue of food insecurity while raising funds for food banks. The campaign theme this year is ‘Harvesting Hope’ and the effort is designed to raise awareness around the issue of food insecurity and inspire action within local communities not only during month of September, but throughout the entire year.
Approximately 200 ShopRite stores in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Maryland fundraised all month long with a goal of raising $1.5 million to support local and regional food pantries and hunger-fighting organizations. Associates from the top fundraising ShopRite stores will get their photos on special edition-Cheerios boxes in the spring.
To raise awareness about ShopRite’s hunger-fighting initiatives, many stores also marked the month by inviting community leaders and first responders to be celebrity guest baggers at checkout. ShopRite customers also have the option to support their communities by rounding up their change at checkout as a donation to local hunger-fighting organizations. In addition, shoppers who use self-checkout will have the ability to make a donation to fight hunger on the self-checkout screen.
With nearly 34 million Americans, including more than 9 million children, suffering from food insecurity, ShopRite Partners In Caring is focused on helping end food insecurity in the communities where ShopRite stores operate. Since its inception in 1999, ShopRite Partners In Caring has raised approximately $62 million for local food banks and organizations that support more than 2,500 charities focused on helping fight hunger in the communities they serve.
