Wakefern Announces Acquisition of Ten Stop & Shop Stores

July 12, 2007, Elizabeth, NJ – Wakefern Food Corporation announced today it has entered into an agreement with the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company , Quincy, Massachusetts, to purchase the store fixtures and assets of ten Stop & Shop Supermarkets. The projected acquisition is expected by August 15. Once the acquisition from Stop & Shop is complete, the store locations will be retrofitted on an accelerated timeline and reopened as ShopRite supermarkets, owned and operated by the Wakefern Members listed below:

  • 892 Union Mill Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ
  • 127 Ark Road, Mt. Laurel, NJ
  • 401 South Pitney Road, Absecon, NJ
  • 542 Berlin-Cross Keys Road, Sicklerville, NJ
  • .1200 Chews Landing Road, Laurel Springs, NJ
  • 143 Bridgeton Pike, Mullica Hill, NJ
  • 330 Route 211 E., Middletown, NY

The Stop & Shop site located in Middletown, New York will become a replacement store for the current ShopRite located at 400 RT 211 East, Wallkill Plaza.

PNC Bank branches in these locations will continue to operate during the transition. Pharmacies will also remain open with pharmacists providing continued service to customers.
