Customers Lives Transformed With Help From In-Store Dietitians
Keasbey, NJ (August 2017) – Since launching its in-store Registered Dietitian program nearly 11 years ago, ShopRite’s team of health and wellness experts have helped thousands of customers improve their lives by offering free services such as nutritional counseling, weight management classes, annual health screenings, and community outreach programs and events.
ShopRite recently released two short videos chronicling the stories of local customers who say their lives have been transformed with the help of their supermarket’s local in-store dietitian.
“We’re grateful to our customers for giving us the opportunity to share their stories, and we hope their successes will inspire others to take advantage of the free counseling and other services offered by our dietitians here at ShopRite,” says Natalie Menza-Crowe, RD, MS, director of the Health and Wellness at ShopRite. “We take great pride in knowing that our team is making a difference in people’s lives, and look forward to continuing to offer these free services to shoppers, associates and members of the community for a long time to come.”
Nina Adams: Longtime ShopRite shopper Nina Adams admits she was not feeling her best the day she decided to go food shopping and, on a whim, stopped in the office of the in-store dietitian at the ShopRite of Flanders, NJ. It was an office she had walked by dozens of times before during weekly shopping outings, but today was different. “I had hit rock bottom,” Adams, a Flanders resident, explains, “And I knew I needed help.”
She made an appointment with her ShopRite’s in-store Registered Dietitian, Lydia Lelah, and after a few months of free counseling sessions, Nina says her life has been transformed. “I’ve lost between 50 and 55 lbs. and I feel the best I ever have,” she says.

Veronica Fetzer: Flemington, NJ resident Veronica Fetzer was searching for guidance after being diagnosed with celiac disease. “Those were dark days for me, I couldn’t even leave my house,” she recalls. Looking for help, she stopped in the office of the ShopRite of Flemington’s Dietitian, Susan Lang-Saponaro, RD.
With the advice of Susan, Veronica discovered new products and easy recipes and she joined a support group that meets at the supermarket for people who were diagnosed with, or are supporting someone, affected by celiac disease. “I finally felt hope,” Veronica says of her initial meeting with Susan. These days, thanks to Susan’s help, she says she has resumed her life, “What can I say? This service is awesome and it has changed my life.”
