COMMUNITY OF HOWARD PARK CELEBRATES A NEW SHOPRITE SUPERMARKET
Baltimore, MD (Howard Park – July 28, 2014) – ShopRite announced today that the grand opening of its newest store, ShopRite of Howard Park, located at 4601 Liberty Heights Avenue in the Howard Park community of Baltimore, MD is planned for Thursday, July 31, 2014. The store will have a community celebration, followed by a formal ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 31st at 12:00 PM. Festivities at the store will begin at 11:00 am. Scheduled to join the Klein Family, who own and operate this location, are Lt. Governor Anthony G. Brown, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, City Council President Jack Young and civic and religious leaders from the local community. The Klein family operates eight other ShopRite stores in the Harford and Baltimore Counties of Maryland.

The new ShopRite of Howard Park will offer the local community a broad selection of products and services at ShopRite’s low prices. The 67,000 square foot supermarket will offer a wide array of groceries and fresh produce, meat, seafood, a fresh bake shop, natural, organic and gluten-free products and a full-service pharmacy. The new ShopRite will also feature a selection of ethnic foods, including produce, meat and grocery items from around the world. The store will also offer the convenience of freshly prepared foods for quick and easy meals, including: hot entrees and side dishes, hearty soups, rotisserie and fire grilled chicken and many ready-to-heat items.
An exciting feature will be the Q-Care health suite, managed by Park West Health Care System in partnership with non-profit UpLift Solutions. The in-store health suite will provide walk-in convenient and quality health care services for children and adults starting October 2014. Dr. Allen Bennett, CEO of Park West states “The presence of the Park West Q-Care Health Suite within the ShopRite is such an innovation that will ensure even more quality and accessible healthcare for all. This is a first of its kind in the State of Maryland for a Federally-Qualified Health Center (FQHC)”.
The ShopRite of Howard Park will bring 250 new jobs to the local community and will be an integral part of the improvements being made to the landscape of Liberty Heights Avenue. “We are very excited to expand our service further into the city of Baltimore with the opening of a ShopRite in the Howard Park community. The Klein family opened its first grocery store in Fallston, Maryland in 1925. Now, almost 9 decades later, brothers Andrew, Michael and Howard own and operate eight ShopRite supermarkets throughout Maryland. A fourth generation of the Klein family-Marshall, Sarah, and Stephen are also actively engaged in the family business.
